Letter from R. Hackett to former schoolmate, Patrick Calhoun ( 1821-1858), noting Calhoun's recent arrival as a cadet at USMA-West Point, the current state of affairs at Pendleton Academy, and work of principal Thomas Wayland. Hackett suggests that he might join Calhoun at West Point the following spring and questions how he likes "the Yankee boys."
